Smoked out is a family-based business that provides different blends of fruit and nut woods for barbecue grilling. This idea was birthed out of my love for barbecue. At an early age, I was taught to grill by my grandfather who hails from Alabama. My grandfather always used Peachwood to enhance his barbecue. As I got older I began to mix different woods with knowledge from my uncles who play a big part in my passion for smoking as well. I Began to mix different wood flavors (cherry, apple, and pecan), etc., and noticed that these woods provided distinct tastes that set my food apart from others. My business partner and I were brainstorming ideas and realized “we” can’t do anything small, we should sell the wood blends so everyone can enjoy these unique flavors. After winning the pitch night contest, the first thing that came to mind was to give thanks to the Lord and these two scriptures: “Do not despise the days of small beginnings” Zechariah 4:10 and “to whom much is given, much is required” Luke 12:48.
