Savannah Moore

Business Launch Boot Camp Class #17

Business: Thoughtfish Cards

How did you get the idea for your business?

“I have always enjoyed making cards! And I wanted to make some extra money to support my hobbies and favorite causes.”

What was the state of your business before RMMFI?

“Thoughtfish was a much more low-scale project, called Scrawled Sentiments. I printed the cards from home and colored each one by hand.”

What is one thing you would like people to know about you and/or your business?

I don’t put anything on the shelf I don’t approve of 150%.  I am a perfectionist when it comes to my final product looking and feeling like it was made with love.

What is your favorite holiday cookie and/or treat?

Pfeffernusse cookies and homemade Bailey’s.

Jessica Moore

Business Launch Boot Camp Class #16

Business: Simple and Sylvan

How did you get the idea for your business?

After spending 8 weeks nestled at a camp in Pike National Forest in the summer of 2015, Jess Moore would fall asleep thinking about recreating the landscape in layers and the vibrant hues that surrounded her. She is a graphic designer with 15 years of experience and holds an MFA in Integrated Design; Jessica’s art is the perfect antidote to a career in corporate design. Her works bridges digital and analog while using new technology to construct layered, laser-cut, stained wooden scenes that are stitched together to recreate the landscapes that she loves throughout the Rocky Mountain West.

What was the state of your business before RMMFI? “Despite having a successful career as a graphic designer and educator, neither my undergrad or graduate education gave me basic skills for running a business, or the tools to have a “street legal” business. RMMFI’s wonderful coaches led my class through the ins and outs of business ownership, and gave me the tools to move forward and become successful. I went from an small idea to fruition. The network of business professionals that lend their time to help others is so wonderful, encouraging and insightful.”

What is one thing you would like people to know about you and/or your business?

“I am a full-time RVer, making art on the road. I traveled the mountain towns this past summer, and am working on my path for summer of 2018.”

What if your favorite holiday cookie and/or treat?

“I make a sugar cookie from a recipe given to my grandmother, decades ago. The original calls for 8 cups of flour – that’s about 2 pounds! We certainly don’t make that many, but my friends and family love how thin I can roll the dough.”

Latasha Belle

Business Launch Boot Camp Class #7

Business: Ashae Soaps

How did you get the idea for your business?

“I originally wanted to be a make-up artist, and soon realized that the removal of make-up is just as important if not even more important than the application. Upon researching commercial products I soon realized that there are a lot of harsh chemicals used to produce the products we apply to our skin on a daily basis. I wanted to know more so I went to school to become a licensed Esthetician. Armed with the above information, I began to research ingredients and making my own products…thus the birth of Ashae’ Soaps.”

What was the state of your business before RMMFI?

“Before RMMFI my business was in the planning stage. I had participated in a few craft shows but I didn’t have a clear plan in regards to my direction. Through boot camp I was able to polish my plan, as well as my brand’s image. I definitely left feeling stronger and more self-assured than when I entered boot camp.”

What is one thing you would like people to know about you and/or your business?

“I love making my own products. Ashae Soaps grew out of love for creative expression. I am as passionate about the production as I am about the people I serve. I’m on a constant quest to perfect customer service because I want my customers to experience a great product along with great service.”

What is your favorite holiday cookie and/or treat?

“I love homemade shortbread cookies.”
